Even though the Dashcam turns on upon the cars ignition, you can manually set when you'd like to turn it on/off.

This Dashcam features a rechargeable battery. If you choose to leave it plugged in, it will use the cigarette lighter port to charge the battery, then once you decide to unplug it, it will run off the rechargeable battery.
