Steam washing machines work just like non-steam washing machines, but have the added benefit of wash cycles including a steam functionality. Steam washers have water-only wash cycles, combined steam and water cycles and a steam freshening cycle. These washers use less power and less water than conventional models. This is due to only needing a little bit of water to create a lot of steam, which expands to take up more volume within the drum. As less water is being used less energy is needed to heat it up.
